Our esteemed Insurance client currently has an exciting new job opportunity for a talented Software Engineering Lead to join its Technology Division in Dublin, delivering best in class infrastructure and security services across the business.

Here the Software Engineering Lead will lead and manage a dedicated team responsible for developing and delivering software solutions to stakeholders.

As a “Hands-on” Leader, the successful candidate will actively contribute as part of a cross-functional team to define, design and deliver new features and provide continuous technical guidance, support and people management to a small, committed team consisting of software developers, business analysts, and testers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with the Product Management team and Architects to prioritize backlogs and pipelines, ensuring that the offerings align with the business’s requirements.
  • Lead application design workshops to ensure that functional and architectural designs are dissected into technical tasks with precise estimates.
  • Successfully lead a team to design and develop code, APIs, framework components and integration flows
  • Collaborate with other Technical Leads and Solutions Architects to create and review designs
  • Participate in sprint planning sessions and offer feedback during retrospectives
  • Provide on-going mentoring and support to all members of the development team
  • Monitor the teams daily progress and ensure that the development team stays focused
  • Advocate and promote software development best practices

What you’ll need:

  • BSc. / MSc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years commercial experience as a full-stack software engineer, ideally in an enterprise environment
  • 2+ years proven experience in leading / managing a team of software developers and improving team performance
  • Solid working knowledge of software architecture and design patterns
  • In-depth knowledge of the following: Java 8 (or higher), Microservices, SOAP/REST, RDBMS, SQL, Jenkins, Git/ Bitbucket, Jira, XML technologies, JavaScript, Angular or React.js,
  • Previous Insurance industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
  • Previous stakeholder management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Bonus skills:

  • Good presentation skills
  • Previous exposure to Guidewire implementations
