Site Reliability Engineer - Fully Remote

We are currently working with a Global FinTech to recruit for a Site Reliability Engineer to join a growing operational support team based out of Galway. The position is offering fully remote.

As part of the Operational support team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting a range application, infrastructure and system issues across both on-prem and cloud environments, whilst also aiding in the enhancement, reliability and development of the company’s market data groups key platform/s.

As an SRE, some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working as part of a globally distributed team of support engineers across Ireland, India and the US, operating a follow-the-sun support model, to troubleshoot application, infrastructure and system issues.
  • Aid in the enhancement, reliability and development of the company’s market data groups key platform/s through automation, application development, new technology integration.
  • Aid in supporting a large multi-server distributed Unix/Linux environment and AWS based cloud applications.
  • Manage critical incidents through to resolution (triaging, owning, communicating issues, troubleshooting etc.)

Ideally you will have a combination of the below technical skills:

  • Third Level Qualification in IT / related field or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience working in a system and application support role aiding in deployments.
  • Experience working with AWS or other cloud providers – monitoring systems, aiding in deployments, performing general administration, maintenance and support tasks etc.
  • Experience with Linux System Administration, Network Topology and SQL Databases
  • Knowledge of working in an Agile Environment aiding in the application development (Java / JS), release and deployment of applications & pipelines (DEV/QA/UAT/PROD)
  • Experience with shell scripts and/or Python, Bash, Perl scripting for automation
  • Understanding of incident triaging, including; ownership, communication, management and eventual resolution etc.
  • Experience working with collaboration tools such as Confluence or Jira.
  • Desire to identify and find resolutions to problems, suggest improvements to the systems through new technologies & process improvements etc.
